On December 15th 2012 BootCamp Ascot held its Christmas Party and Award Ceremony at Ascot United Football Club. Live Music was provided by Lush and tasty food and beverage as well laughter and good times were shared by all. All BootCampers are winners in our eyes – but special awards were given out to those who have achieved fantastic results over the past 12 months;
Lisa Plummer – Newcomer Award
BootCamp Ascot’s doors are always open to new attendees and earlier in 2012 Lisa started attending BootCamp on a regular basis. Having shown great enthusiasm at each session and not being afraid to work hard and push her own limits she was given the Newcomer Award this year.
On receiving her award Lisa said “‘Thanks for my award, I have loved joining BootCamp and feel so much fitter and healthier!” and looking forward to this year she said “I plan to keep up BootCamp but also join my fellow BootCampers on regular cross country runs!”
Kyra Small – Female BootCamper of the Year
Raising the flag for the BootCamp ladies, Kyra collected the well deserved award for Female BootCamper of the Year.
On receiving the award she commented “Thank you so much to Charles for my award and continued encouragement.”
Kyra plans to put her shiny new trainers received as part of the award to good use in 2013 – although we’re sure they won’t stay clean for long and be put through their paces on the tarmac!
“I hope to do my first half marathon this year and who knows what else he may talk me into!” Kyra added.
John Gunn – Male BootCamper of the Year
John has been attending BootCamp Ascot for many years now on a regular basis. He’s also been inspired to take part in a variety of extreme running events on the back of his new found fitness such as Brutal 10k and Survival of the Fittest.
On receiving the award and hailing his new pair of trainers into the air he said “Thanks to Charles I’ve lost several stone in weight and am much fitter than I ever used to be. In 2013 I’m looking to improve my parkrun and Brutal 10k times.”
Bronwen Pullin – Body Transformation Award
For some who attend BootCamp they have personal goals they want to achieve such as weight loss. Bronwen has achieved this goal with massive success losing an impressive 3.5 stone in just 18 months and dropping 4 dress sizes!
Although having now completed several cross country running events and continuing to attend BootCamp on a regular basis, it looks like the fitness bug has struck and keeping fit and healthy is on Bronwen’s agenda for the long-term.
Bronwen with confidence said “Thank you so much for my award, I couldn’t have achieved so much without the encouragement and support from Charles and fellow BootCampers. I plan to achieve more 10k cross country runs and continue to improve my running capabilities further.”
Charlie Morrow – Animal Award
Always putting in 120% relentless effort at BootCamp Ascot sessions Charlie won the acclaimed ‘Animal’ award.
Afterwards Charlie said “I was extremely happy to receive my ‘BootCamp Animal 2012’ award. I enjoy the creature comforts of my local gym, but nothing beats letting lose my animal instincts in our local iconic locations after a hard day in the office. BootCamp I love it!!”
Claire Shapland – Warrior Award
Claire, a busy Mum of two has achieved great personal fitness goals and thrown herself head first into extreme cross-country racing this year – warranting being chosen to receive the BootCamp Warrior Award!
Claire said “I’m so proud of my award and it’s all thanks to Charles and his support and I love going to his classes. I lost 3 1/2 stone last year after I had my 2nd baby. In 2013 I am planning on loosing another 1 1/2 stone and keeping up with the Brutal runs, doing another Survival of the Fittest event and taking on any other trail running/ obstacle courses that come my way!”
Si Thomas – Morph Warrior Award
Si has a head for heights a passion for adrenaline and a heart for fundraising. Back in May this year Si bravely wore an all-in-one Morph suit and a blue mohawk haircut at a Brutal 10k race in order to raise a fantastic £500 for Help for Heroes. See a photo of Si in action here.
Following receiving his Morph Warrior Ward Si said “BootCamp helps keep me fit and smiling in between jumping out of planes and the odd bit of KiteSurfing. Plans are to take the board shorts laid back approach to the odd Stokes Scurry, parkrun, Brutal – and who knows where the morphsuit will reappear this year!”
Robert Barnes – Bard Award
BootCamp Ascot is full of characters from all professions and walks of life coming together for a common passion to exercise and keep healthy. Rob ‘Barnsey’ Barnes picked up Charles’s special ‘Bard Award’ at this years ceremony for his good humour and literary words of wisdom.
Rob said “Thanks again Charles for all your encouragement during 2012. With your help I confidently look forward to getting even fitter during 2013.”
